Itraconazole is an antifungal medication that fights infections caused by fungus. Itraconazole is used to treat infections caused by fungus, which can invade any part of the body including the lungs, mouth or throat, toenails, or fingernails .

INDICATIONS 

For the treatment of invasive aspergillosis.

For the treatment of blastomycosis.

For step-down therapy of blastomycosis in immunosuppressed patients after initial treatment with amphotericin B.

For the treatment of life-threatening blastomycosis.

For the treatment of chronic cavitary pulmonary histoplasmosis.

For the treatment of chronic progressive disseminated histoplasmosis.

For the treatment of esophageal candidiasis.

MECHANISM OF ACTION 

Itraconazole oral solution (liquid) is used to treat yeast infections of the mouth and throat or of the esophagus (tube that connects the throat to the stomach). Itraconazole is in a class of antifungals called triazoles. It works by slowing the growth of fungi that cause infection.
